Down on the “Pharm”

One of the more tedious things about living in the “Information age” is having to pour over the all the information out there and glean from it what you can and then make some kind of sense or value judgment of it.

Such was the case when I started looking into this phenomenal advent of the so called Pharm party. Essentially written up as a drug fest where kids raid their parents drug cabinets and toss the goods into a bowl like so many M+M’s in the green room at a Van Halen concert. Damn were kids just that more knowledgeable nowadays about pharmaceuticals (Must be the internet again!) or were they playing another form of Russian roulette with themselves and what they ingest, or where they as creative as I was back yonder and had gotten hold of a PDR? Back in the day those grade of drugs were good but compared to today’s stuff it was minimal in variety and in some respects not as strong or as sophisticated compared to today’s meds. To make matters worse kids were also using the Internet to swap recipes on drug combinations using nothing but color and size codes!! C’mon now what self-respecting doper would settle for those types of standards? Oh wait, I see, maybe that’s the problem.

Ok so as dumbfounded as all this hipster info was to me it only got better when I stumbled upon a well thought out and very entertaining expose in an online publication called “The Slate” about why this “Trend” makes better copy than it does fact. I pride myself on keeping up to date on trends, urban legends and the like and I felt duped and cheated to be honest. On the other hand I took solace to see the contents of the USA Today’s article reprinted over and over in a variety of publications and the best yet was an article about legislation about to be passed by one of my least favorite politicians (Mostly because of his anti gun bias, but hey now I have another reason to dislike him!) C.E. Shumer aimed at cracking down on illegal online pharmacies (Hey wait, what happened to the drug cabinets?) and all it’ll take to get bogus writ like that passed is disinformation passed along as trend.

Now why didn’t I think of that?
