In the UK, a suspected drug mule has died with 61 bags of cocaine in her stomach.
At this stage, authorities still haven’t positively identified who she actually is, but it is suspected she flew in from Ghana, possibly via Europe.
This follows the a change in the trend of drug mules from Jamaica being used by vested interests to move drugs to the UK once it was found that customs was growing wise to that tendency. Nigerian drug mules as well as other African nationalities seem to have taken the place of the Jamaicans more recently.
Moreover, the source of the drugs has seen the growing prominence of west Africa in the UK’s drug traffic.
If this trend continues, then we can probably expect to see more cases of these people being abandoned and sold out by the dealers and drug barons who use them.
Additionally, if the number and prominence of African mules being caught by UK Customs continues to rise, then drug traffickers may again need a switch in strategy to source their drugs and their mules.
If past efforts are anything to go on, then the switch will be to a poor area, with high corruption, limited governmental control and a drug growing climate.
