Fake drugs are now appearing as a problem for the highly gullible.
In Lumberton, USA, several people have been charged with selling drugs. Only they weren’t drugs. For example, one man sold a pebble pretending it was a crack cocaine rock.
“They use wax and they sell baking soda for pure cocaine. They’re just trying to make money. They even sell oregano for marijuana and anything that appears to look like drugs,” said local police officer, Lt. T.O. Shaw.
They say a fool and their money is soon parted, but really!
This probably isn’ the best strategy to use as a drug dealer if you are looking for repeat customers and one major hazard is that the police are treating this as if it were really drug dealing.
In fact several people caught dealing fake drugs were charged with full drug offences as if they had been dealing the real thing.
The operation to catch these people also targetted illegal prostitution and gambling.
There’s no word on whether the dealers were using Monopoly money.
