I’ve just been reading about the tragic death of 13-year-old Frank Korondi of Shelton, Connecticut, who died from an apparent heroin overdose earlier this month. The couple, Angela Krasowski, 23, and her ex-husband, James Krasowski, 33, who were said by police to have provided him with the heroin, are being charged with manslaughter. On Monday they appeared in Derby Superior Court. Prosecutors told the judge that the couple had admitted culpability in what happened. James Krasowski said that he was ‘very sorry’ for what happened. The case has now been moved to the Milford Superior Court where it is due to resume on the 6th of June.
While details are still filtering through from police, the following is reported to have transpired. On the night of Friday the 5th Frank Korondi was sleeping over at the Derby house of his 10-year-old friend Bradley Commerford, who used to be a neighbour. Some time that night the boys called up Bradley’s half-sister, Angela, who came over and picked them up in her vehicle. She then drove them to her apartment in Shelton where she lived with her ex-husband and their four-year-child. Around 9:45 the next morning, Saturday the 6th, local police and the Emergency Medical Services got a call from the apartment. Frank was found unconscious on the bathroom floor and rushed to hospital. According to his father he vomited and then suffocated.
Angela and James Krasowski are being charged with manslaughter because police say the couple supplied the heroin that Frank Korondi snorted and smoked, and were aware what he was up to and did nothing to stop it. They have even asserted that she enticed him - although there is no evidence of a sexual relationship - to try it, which is consistent with what a former roommate of hers, now living out of state, had to say about her. According to Laura Roberts, who had roomed with her three years earlier, Angela, who worked as a stripper, liked to befriend young people who were often underage and act as a kind of pied piper, leading them into a world of booze and drugs. As it happens, Roberts lived across from the Korondi family in a block of apartments up until she left town about three months ago, which is about the time he became mixed up with Krasowski. She knew him then as a good, studious and obedient kid.
