Jorge Eduardo Costilla-Sanchez is a suspected Mexican drug lord whose shares are rising rapidly.
In fact, on Thursday the US put out a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture.
Sanchez, according to the US government, annually smuggles several tons of marijuana and cocaine north from Mexico into the United States and stands charged with drug trafficking, money laundering and assaulting a federal law enforcement official.
More to the point, Sanchez is thought to be the leader of the infamous Gulf Cartel of Mexico (also known as the Osiel Cardenas Guillen Organization), one of several cartels thought to be currently embroiled in an ongoing street war in the north of the country. He is also said to head up Los Zetas which is the enforcement arm of the cartel, allegedly responsible for kidnappings, murders and other associated badness!
While the reward might attract a little bit of interest, the prospects of collecting are fairly slim. After all, when you are the head of a paramilitary organisation that was trained by US special forces, the odds of being able to just walk up and whack some handcuffs on you diminish significantly.
