The Asian Tribune is reporting the arrest of businessman, Badruddoza Chowdhury Momen, on May 19 in connection with a massive heroin exporting ring.
Badruddoza is known as a Islamist hardliner is his native Bangladesh and started the Naya Diganta newpaper with Saudi funds several years ago. The newspaper has the reputation of be pro-radical.
The businessman now stands accused of exporting massive amounts of heoin inside food shipments to the US and UK (he also owns a food spices exporting business) and according to reports, admitted to exporting several hundred million dollars worth of narcotics to the west since 2003.
Upon interrogation, Badruddoza stated that, “It is a part of our noble responsibility to spoil the Western society with drugs.”
Perhaps what is even more disturbing than the possible issue of drug funding finding its way into terrorist hands, is the fact that Badruddoza is also alleging that he had help from highly placed officials within Bangladesh.
