A few of you might be interested in the results of a study done during the 1950s by the US government into the psycological effects of taking LSD (acid).
Zipped.org has compiled a group of charcoal drawings by the subject of an experiment that basically consisted of injecting an artist with LSD 25 and letting him loose with a box full of crayons and pencils – a fine premise for an experiment.
There are a few interesting parts to this (at least to my mind).
For starters, the drug was introduced intravenously and after 20 minutes the subject was still able to produce a pretty damn fine piece of work. The first charcoal sketch (of the guy who injected him) is something that most artists wouldn’t be ashamed of.
The next few sketches (completed at 85 minutes, 2.5 hours and 2 hrs 32 minutes and 2 hrs 35 mintes) are all a bit shabby. The poor chap basically reverted to line drawing.
But at 2 hours and 45 minutes the artist actually managed to produce something pretty cool. I can’t really explain what it is, you’ll just have to visit the website and check it out.
